About

Sally Jackson is a Sydney-based couture designer specialising in bespoke garments made from high quality vintage fabrics which are combined with layered printing and hand-crafted surface treatments.

Starting her career in fashion at Collette Dinnigan as a sample cutter, Sally then moved into costume design and production roles in Europe and the US, producing garments for artists and performers around the world.

Sally has been a leading teacher, researcher and advocate for sustainable and ethical fashion for more than a decade. She currently teaches up-cycled garment design and construction at the University of Technology, Sydney and contributed to the First Nations Fashion Design program, initiated by artist Grace Lillian Lee. The garment they created in collaboration with local artists at the Waringarri Arts Centre in remote Western Australia went on to win the 2020 National Indigenous Fashion Award.

Sally was profiled as an emerging designer in the August 2020 issue of Australian Vogue, just before the release of her 2020 Collection, The Bowerbirds.
